I’ve been snapping up bargains on ebay recently . . . having grabbed this lot of Disney Animator dolls:  50€ for the job lot of 6 dolls (price brand new is upwards of 28€ per doll).  And then finding another one, also for 8€.  If you’ve never heard of these dolls . . . they’re 16” tall and each doll represents a younger version of Disney heroines.

Dernièrement, j’ai acheté un lot de poupées Disney Animator: les six poupées pour seulement 50€ (prix neuf est 28€ la poupée).  Et ensuite j’ai trouvé une autre, pour 8€.  Si vous ne connaissez pas ces poupées . . . elles mesurent environ 40cm et chacune représente une héroïne Disney, version “enfant”.

The reason I suddenly went in search of these dolls . . . I had seen some really cute knitting & sewing patterns for sale, for these dolls and also spent time watching tutorials on how to sort out things like messy hair.  The “plan” is not to keep all of these dolls for myself, but to clean them up, make a few outfits, and then gift them to a couple of girls I know at Christmas, who will (I hope) enjoy playing with a Disney doll.

Ce n’est pas mon intention de les garder toutes . . . mais de confectionner des tenues, de les nettoyer, et les arranger un peu, avant des les offrir à plusieurs jeunes filles dans mon entourage pour Noël. 

Dolls actually all arrived looking in far better condition than I was expecting.  And Belle is really the only one having a bad hair day.  Not only was her hair horribly matted

La seule qui avait vraiment un gros problème avec ses cheveux, c’est Belle.  Vraiment emmêlés.

but someone had chopped off the little curl which is supposed to sit all prettily on her forehead.  Anyway . . . after watching a few videos on youtube, I set to work to untangle.

Et malheureusement, quelqu’un avait coupé sa petite boucle, sur le front.  Mais bon . . . ce n’est pas dramatique.  Alors, après avoir regardé quelques vidéos sur youtube, la cuisine s’est transformée en salon de coiffure.

Then did a “boil wash” / d’abord démêler, et ensuite laver dans de l’eau presque bouillante.

But when hair dried, the ends were still very frizzy, so I gave Belle’s hair a trim.

Cela a aidé a redonner du lustre, mais les bouts étaient encore très frisés et rêches.   Alors un petit coup de ciseaux.

Inbetween, I had also given Rapunzel a good brush, because her hair was slightly tangled, but nothing too serious.

Entretemps, j’ai simplement brossé les cheveux de Raiponce: avant

And just to keep things tidy, and prevent further tangling . . . I’ve given both dolls a temporary hair-do.

Et j’ai fait une coiffure provisoire à chacune pour éviter que les cheveux s’emmêlent à nouveau.
