When I walk into my sewing room, I often get the feeling someone is watching me.  I have dolls on several different surfaces . . . baby dolls on the sofa, BJD on top of a bookcase, my Sylvia Natterer doll next to my sewing machine, and here, a whole group of Animator dolls standing around plus Daisy (my Monika Levenig doll .  Quand j’entre dans mon “atelier” j’ai parfois l’impression que l’on me surveille . . . Il y a les poupons sur le canapé, des BJDs sur la bibliothèque, ma poupée Sylvia Natterer à côté de ma MAC, toute une famille d’Animators sur un buffet et ma grande, Daisy (une Chantal de Monika Levenig), est là aussi. 

These Animators don’t look at their best for now – but they are the ones remaining, after gifting 4 dolls this Christmas.  I bought all of these second hand so some still have a few hair issues, namely Cinderella.  Kristoff is waiting for me to knit him a sweater.

Au départ j’avais acheté 10 Disney Animators (d’occas) et j’en ai offert 4 à Noël.  Celles qui restent forment une grande famille, avec Cendrillon qui a besoin d’être coiffée correctement, et Kristoff qui attend que je lui tricote un pull.

I have to say, my favourite of these remaining 6 dolls is Merida.  Je dois dire que ma préférée de celles qui restent est Mérida.

I love her expression and quirky eyebrows.  Elle a un visage et un regard tellement expressif.

She is sooooooo photogenic!  She’s also wearing a sweater that wasn’t intended for her since I made that for Alix, my Sylvia Natterer doll.

Elle est drôlement photogénique.  Elle est aussi un peu chipie, et a chipé un pull que j’avais tricoté pour Alix, ma poupée Sylvia Natterer.

Only problem being, that the only pair of trousers made for my SN doll don’t really go with the pretty colours of the sweater.

Si c’est Mérida qui le porte en ce moment c’est tout simplement parce qu’Alix n’a pas de pantalon à porter avec.  J’ai bien cousu un pantalon, mais dans un tissu fleuri et ça ne va pas ensemble.

So, not only do I need to make a pair of trousers to match the sweater, but it might also be a good idea to knit another sweater to wear with the trousers!

Donc il va falloir faire un autre pantalon, pour qu’Alix puisse porter ce joli pull et peut-être aussi tricoter un autre pull, pour porter avec ce premier pantalon.

It was just before Christmas that I saw a MasterPiece Gallery doll on ebay that caught my eye.  A “Chantal” doll, by the German artist Monika Levenig.  The husband gave me permission to buy, and this doll was my Christmas present.

C’était un peu avant Noël que j’ai découvert les grandes poupées de Masterpiece Gallery, et que j’ai vu une “Chantal” de Monika Levenig sur ebay.  Mon mari m’a donné la permission de l’acheter, et cette poupée était donc mon cadeau de Noël 2018.

She’s 92cm tall, and came wearing her original outfit (as in photo) with her certificate, proving that she is number 11 of a limited edition of 350  of the 2008  Europe Edition.

Elle mesure 92cm et est venue dans sa tenue d’origine, avec son certificat d’authenticité, qui prouve qu’elle est numéro 11 d’une édition limitée à 350 pour l’Europe Edition 2008.

She’s a blond-haired, blue-eyed vinyl doll, with vinyl upper torso and fabric & stuffed lower body & thighs.  At 92cm she is the size of a 2 – 3 year old child. 

Elle est blonde, aux yeux bleus, en vinyle mais avec une partie du corps en tissu.  A 92cm elle fait la taille d’un enfant de 2 à 3 ans.

One of the reasons I fell in love with the idea of adding a Masterpiece Gallery doll to my collection was to have a child-sized model for crafting projects.  Readers of my crafting blog have already seen photos of Daisy, when I knitted a little bolero cardigan (pattern is “Rue’ by Martin Storey, for Rowan).

D’ailleurs, c’est sa grande taille qui m’a attirée.  Les personnes qui suivent mon blog de loisirs créatifs ont déjà vu des photos de Daisy . . . lorsque j’ai tricoté un petit gilet (patron: “Rue” de Martin Storey pour Rowan).

et quand j’ai cousu une petite robe chasuble avec leggings assorti.

More crafting projects are in the pipeline for Daisy, but in the meantime . . . I couldn’t resist buying her a little outfit in Lidl the other day, and then taking her outside in the garden for a few photos.

Il y aura d’autres projets couture/tricot à venir, mais l’autre jour j’ai craqué pour un petit ensemble à Lidl . . . et n’ai pas pu résister à l’envie de l’amener dans le jardin pour quelques photos.

There are several other artists, apart from Monika Levenig, who design life-sized child dolls for the Masterpiece Gallery collection.  They range from approx 55cm (babies) through 68cm, 72cm, etc . . . with the largest representing children approximately 6 years old and measuring 114cm.  The artists to look for, in case you want to google or do a search on ebay, are names like Monika Peter-Leicht, Denise McMillan, Doris Stannat, Monika Geddes and Susan Lippl, to name just a few.

Il y a d’autres artistes, en dehors de Monika Levening, qui créent des grandes poupées pour Masterpiece Gallery.  Les poupées peuvent aller de 55cm (des bébés) à 68cm, 72cm etc . . . les plus grandes pouvant mesurer 114cm et representant des enfants de 6 ans.   D’autres artistes , au cas où vous avez envie de faire des recherches  sont, par exemple, Monika Peter-Leicht, Denise McMillan, Doris Stannat, Monika Geddes et Susan Lippl.
